Photo Contest

This tool can be used to organise a photo contest with children from a local primary school and/or caregivers using disposable cameras, to capture perceptions about challenges and opportunities they experience in their neighbourhood.

Aim: Engage children from local primary school and/or caregivers in a photo contest – using disposable cameras, to capture their perception about challenges and opportunities they experience in their neighbourhood. Display results of photo activity at the Co-creation or Validation Workshops if logistically desirable.

Tasks:

- Identify & contact personnel at local institution (school, NGO, community centre) best placed to facilitate PC with local children from primary schools, and/or caregivers.

- Agree camera distribution/recovery dates (and film development timeline if using film cameras). Distribution/recovery of cameras and development of film should be scheduled so as to allow presentation of photos at final Validation Workshop (P2.1.6).

- Determine PC instructions, and any safety, ethical or cultural sensitivity considerations for participants.

- Prepare consent form, for privacy and data management.
